The Point…

•We all have different and equally important talents•As individuals we’re stars and we should be. We

should be the very best at what we’re good at.• In teams we become well rounded• In teams we accomplish more than we ever can as

individuals

But Talent is overrated, right?

• You CAN be good at EVERYTHING!• You just have to want it! …and spend 10,000 hours in focused practice

Just 4.8 YEARS @ 40 hours a week.

The Problem With This Theory…

• Say two teenagers are enrolled in a speed reading course• Kid #1 is an average reader. He starts the course reading

90 WPM. At the end he increases to 150. That’s a 67% improvement!• Kid #2 is a talented reader. He starts at about 300 WPM.

He increases to 2,900 WPM! – an improvement of 860%!• This is based on a real situation.• Turns out, talent isn’t over rated.
