Realized greater agility and responsiveness by addressing system stability and reliability issues resulting from rapid growth, engaging Microsoft Enterprise Services to facilitate a comprehensive Operations Strategic Review (OSR) of company’s IT organizational structure, business processes and procedures such as software development lifecycle, change control/change management and release management.

OSR included three-day comprehensive series of discovery sessions, collaborative breakout workgroup meetings before designing all-inclusive plan and two-year strategic roadmap that aided the IT organization becoming more dynamic and performance driven through more efficient alignment of people, processes and technology.

Participated in migration of Oracle database environment gaining 10x+ performance boost. Migrated from traditional Oracle on Windows RAC environment to Oracle Exadata v2 Database Machine. Reduced database size by 50% and dramatically improved complex query performance (for example, one complex report run time reduced from 8 hours to less than 4 minutes.)

Maintained steady leadership throughout numerous phases of business/company lifecycle including Internal R&D/venture-funded startup, revenue-negative operations, “tech bubble” burst in 2001, cash flow to break-even, break even to profitability, and ultimate acquisition by Availity.

Led numerous vendor negotiations including $630K, three-year software licensing and support agreements with Microsoft, $200K maintenance/renewal for Cisco SmartNet maintenance, $200K three-year colocation agreement with Life Line Data Centers for disaster recovery facilities, $500K Cisco Unified Computing System Platform expansion and $625K Exadata Database Machine and software licensing from Oracle.

Drove 25% reduction in Internet connectivity charges while increasing bandwidth 10x and a 25% reduction in cellular costs through plan optimization, pooling and defect management (AT&T, Time Warner and Verizon Wireless)

Cultivated enduring, trusting relationships with core technology providers to gain cost-effective pricing and timely problem solving when issues arise.

Championed virtualization of 80% of server infrastructure and boosted overall system performance while gaining 20% reduction in data center power consumption by introducing deployment of Cisco’s Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) and VMWare.

Reduced electrical load further reduced heat generated in Data Center, helping avoid $200K spend on an additional Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) for the Data Center.

Significantly enhanced Quality Assurance/Testing and development environments through deployment of additional virtual machines.

Eradicated all storage-based system outages while increasing system performance by migrating mainly from Direct Attached Storage Devices (DASD) to Tier-1 Storage Array with 100% uptime guarantee.

Authored numerous technical processes, plans, procedures and required documentation including a 200+ page biennial EHNAC Accreditation audit submission, Disaster Recovery Plan, Change Control Processes and Computer Security & Incident Response Plan.

Successfully led construction of 1,500 sq. ft., fully-redundant Data Center and migration of company to new facilities without disrupting business operations. Center included FM-200 fire suppression, video surveillance, electronic physical access control, UPS, CRAC units and on-site diesel generator.
