We have all been there. We are about to deliver a training class or we

are in the middle of the class and something goes wrong. The following

list shows 60 worstcase scenarios . Have you experienced any of these

situations? How did you handle it? Do you have any advice to share with

others? If so, please share them in the comment section and I will add

them to this document.

If you comment I will make sure you get the final project with

Training Scenarios

1 You freeze or your mind goes blank during the training class

2 You get sidetracked with unrelated information

3 Your lose your notes or your slides are missing

4 You are forced to start the session later than planned and you don't have enough time to

cover all of the material

5 All of your trainees arrived late to class

6 You realize the wrong people are in your audience for the material you have prepared

7 You don't know the answer to a question

8 You have a cold or sore throat and have lost your voice

9 You feel like you are going to throw up

10 You need to urgently go to the bathroom

11 Someone in your class becomes seriously ill

12 The whole group of trainees is hung over

13 Trainees don't care about the topic and leave

14 The trainees don't want to be there

15 The trainees are so excited about a recent event that they get out of control and you

can't get them back on topic

16 There are hostile people in your audience

17 There are hecklers and critics in the training class

18 Trainees start a fight with one another in the middle of your presentation

19 You hear sexist or racist or other offending remarks during your presentation

20 You don't want to answer a question from a trainee that's too personal


21 Your training class doesn't speak the same language that you do

22 You need to present to a group with a different culture than what you're used to

23 You see trainees cheating on the test or quiz

24 A trainee is leaning back and falls out of his or her chair

25 You do something or say something to embarrass yourself

26 Trainees call you out for using incorrect information

27 You have to deliver a training class to only one or two people

28 Trainees come really, really late to your training class and you need to catch them up

29 Trainees don't return after a break

30 A fire alarm goes off and everyone leaves the room immediately


31 Your trainees know more than you do

32 You disagree with what your trainees are saying

33 The trainees are making you really, really angry and you don't know if you can hold

your temper

34 Trainees start to leave the room before class is finished

35 You ask for volunteers to help with an activity and everyone refuses

36 More than half of your class or all of your class is falling asleep

37 Someone is snoring really loudly

38 You have to use a microphone and it's making loud squeaky noises

39 The power goes out and you have to present in the dark

40 The room is too hot


41 The training room is freezing cold

42 There are more people than the training room can seat and everyone is squished together

43 The projector will not work

44 You asked the class to read something and then realize that they cannot read

45 Your highlighters run out of ink when making a point on a flipchart

46 You don't have enough handouts for everyone

47 Your visual aid or demonstration fails miserably

48 Someone insists on taking pictures or video of you while talking

49 The trainees are suddenly paying attention to something else going in the room such as

maintenance or repair work

50 There are loud noises or loud intercom system distracting people during the training class


51 Trainees' pagers or phones keep going off

52 A Trainee starts to get upset and physically aggressive with you

53 You notice mispelled words or incorrect information on slides or handouts

54 You've spilled food on the front of yourself right before the training class

55 You show a joke and it offends people

56 Delivering the training class and the supervisor comes in and removes trainees from

your session

57 There is bad smell in the room and trainees can't focus

58 You are the trainees smell smoke

59 Trainees are texting or otherwise busy on their smartphones and not paying attention

60 You are asked to deliver a training session in a cigarette smoke filled room
