TERMINOLOGY

Definition: Space Industry

Refers to economic activities related to manufacturing components that go into Earth’s orbit or beyond, delivering them to those regions, and related services. Other terms used interchangeably are ‘satellite industry’ and ‘space business’.

When Imagine Brownsville was initiated, no one ever thought, in their wildest dreams, that a rocket launch complex similar to Cape Canaveral, Fla. would be constructed at Boca Chica Beach.

However, thanks to the plan, the tools and framework are now in place to fully develop and capitalize on the industry.
