The Law of Detachment Will Teach You That You Can Never Truly Lose Anything The Law of Detachment states that “When you understand that you can truly own nothing then you are attached to nothing.” What this means is that we are all here temporarily anyway and to be attached to any of our possessions is unnecessary. Not only is it unnecessary to be attached to possessions it becomes a burden. You can free yourself of this burden of needing to protect things constantly for fear of loss or damage. Of course you will take sensible precautions with your possessions but if you detach yourself from them you will find a sense of freedom like you’ve never known before. By not attaching emotions to things you are freeing yourself of any power they might have had over you. The same applies to people. Of course you love and care for others but if you apply detachment you will find yourself less vulnerable to the folly of others. By that I mean that you can detach yourself from any negative emotion coming from someone else. We are all attached to those we love and care about and this is only natural but if you wish to be truly free you have to detach yourself from their criticisms of you. You can choose which emotions you let in when they come from someone else. When people see the way you are able to allow only positive emotions come to you they will begin to only give you that type of emotion. Practice this for long enough and you will see. At least one other way worth mentioning to apply the Law of Detachment is with expectation. You can detach yourself from the outcome of any situation. Expect the best but attach no emotions to the outcome. By exhibiting serenity and patience in any situation, even when the outcome is critical, you can detach yourself from it. You see it is not about having no expectations but rather detaching your emotions from them. We all have the power to filter what we let into our minds. Be attached to others of course but don’t let any negative influences in to your life. Learn more at laws-of-attraction.org
