Web 1.0Pushing out messages for TRANSACTIONWeb 2.0Inviting engagement and INTERACTION(That MAYcause transaction)

7

There has been a shift in how we use media, and specifically the Internet. The ad age days focused on pushing messages out that caused people to make a transaction. Now the Internet is a social arena where media is used to invite people to interact with one another. Ultimately, we still want to cause people to make a transaction support a cause, be involved in their childs school, enroll in a program, buy something, etc., but the focus is on the engagement and the interaction so that the transaction is a natural outcome of the relationship.

The first method of broadcasting information to members came with the development of groups. But that didnt last long, because then came.

FB for ECE: Pages

Community pages Business pages

Theres a difference between personal and business profiles on Facebook. You can create a business page when you are logged in as yourself, but the business page is always attached to your profile. That can be a problem down the road. Once you set up a business page you cant change the owner. Its better to log out and start on the homepage and click the link at the bottom. That will make it an independent page.

31

FB for ECE: Pages Community Pages: General topics, concepts or experiences

Official Pages: Businesses, brands, celebrities, or orgs

Facebook created over 6 million community pages using Wikipedia as the source (among others.) But people can create a community page, too. Once the page gets to a yet to be determined pages, the control of the page goes to the users.Business pages must be set up by authorized representatives. Functionality is essentially the same.
