In response to market demand at the time, the previous owner decided to theme many of the rooms. The names spoke for themselves--the Roman, the Licorice Room, the Cave, and the Emperor’s Room. Larkspur Hotels & Restaurants, LLC purchased this hotel in 2005 and renovated, rebranded and re-marketed it with an updated image for a new discriminating clientele. The transformation took almost a year and a half and is an example of how a creative team of players, with excellent planning, design and execution skills, can deliver a state-of-the-art hospitality product. It was a $4M renovation of 102 rooms and all public spaces. The main entry was opened and a fireplace and reading room were added to the newly renovated lobby. A new dining room and bar were created as well as a private dining area. Sustainable bamboo flooring was used throughout. The entire exterior was themed, walkways created in public spaces and the pool renovated. All meeting room spaces were reconfigured and renovated. A new boiler and HVAC system were also added.
