Spring Brake on the Farm

What I accomplished over break.

The Farm I started working for my neighbor back in the

spring of 2005 when I was only in seventh grade and he farms 1,300 acres and has 2,000 hogs and about four hundred cattle at any given time. Also Since my boss went out to California for the week I had to take care of it all and I can honestly say I didn’t let one animal die.

Grinding Feed I have been grinding feed ever since I started

seven years ago which may seem monotonous but for each one of the 25 of loads of feed I ground over spring break produces enough feed to feed out seven hogs or 1400 pounds of meat and the average American eats 50 pounds of pork a year so every load equates to approximately all the pork a person eats for 28 years. Makes me think I help to keep food in mouths more then the average person.

New Born on the Farm These are some of the animals that were born

over break. The calf was born out of a first calf heifer and had I had to pull the calf, on top of that the cow was trying beat me to a pulp.

Equipment Serviced This is the equipment that I serviced on Tuesday

of spring break. These are only several of the tractors on the farm.

The Pipe Racks These are three pipe racks that I built and painted

over spring break. It seemed like it took longer to paint them then it took to weld it all together.
