Editorial

was looking at this newsletter’s editorial of December 2010, exactly 2 years ago. Interesting how things did not change that much! Take a look:

“December 2010 Editorial - This year has been, as we will all agree, full of challenges. Families, companies and ultimately countries are being challenged to rationalize their costs, in a context of fierce global competition and debt crisis, where loans are becoming more and more expensive and harder to get.

Rationalization is today not only synonymous with good practices. It is a fundamental ingredient for survival.

Case study

Interview with Rok Suhadolc, owner of the Slovenian company, Suhadolc Trans

Q: When did you first start using Frotcom? A: We have been using Frotcom since 2009, for already 3 years now.

Q: How does Frotcom make your life easier? A: Frotcom is of great help at any given time to inform the customer about the vehicle location and time of arrival or when goods are to be loaded. We avoid unnecessary chain dialing (party-carrier-driver-carrier-customer). The information is always at our fingertips.

Q: Why are you satisfied with Frotcom’s services? A: Frotcom is logically designed; view displays are easy to use. It is also commendable, which allows many different data output options, such as travelled distance with the vehicle in arbitrary intervals, real-time view of the cost of a vehicle, fuel consumption, which is converted into an Excel file and further processed. The after-sales service is also 100% accurate and professional. The response time is always immediate. I am extremely satisfied!

Q: What can you tell us about Frotcom’s cost benefits? A: Frotcom’s monthly savings are approximately 500.00€, which is considerable comparing to the situation before we started using Frotcom.

Q: What would it be like a working day without Frotcom? A: On any given day Frotcom is the first application that runs on my computer. It is at hand to have a quick run through the map to see who is where. The communication, OFFICE - DRIVER, DRIVER – OFFICE is simple and very useful. This part of Frotcom is the most helpful to me. Drivers got used very quickly to the new way of communication and the success is mutual. In summary, I simply cannot imagine a workday without Frotcom. I recommend it to anyone who wants to have full control, reduce labor costs and work more efficiently!

Q: From the video you participated with in Frotcom’s 2012 video contest, Share the Experience, we understand that you have recently “travelled” with Frotcom to the Nord Kap. Can you tell us more about Frotcom’s contribution to the event? A: As you already know, we traveled for 22 days, a 10,278 km-long journey, from Ljubljana up until the most Northern place of Europe, Norwegian NORD KAP, and back. Frotcom device was installed in a vehicle to establish a communication between the base and the vehicle. The vehicle sent all the necessary information, such as where the closest pumps with cheaper fuel were on the map, information about hotels, ferries, etc. In this respect, Frotcom has proved to be an affordable and simple solution for monitoring vehicles on the road in real time. Thanks to Frotcom’s support, we successfully carried out the LJUBLJANA - NORD KAP - LJUBLJANA project.

ROADMAP congratulates the Frotcom Slovenia team for this successful project!

New features

Converting circular places and zones to polygonal zones

If the last change to zones was about the possibility of creating polygonal zones,

now you can also convert the circular zones to polygonal zones and then edit to

make them overlap exactly as you want. Supposing you want to convert a

circular place to a polygon, you need to go to Administration > Places and right

click on the circular place you want to convert to polygon. Choose Convert to

polygon. Now, you can click the lock and start editing the vertices of the

octagon. You can also add and remove vertices.

Different trail colours for different vehicles

You can visually distinguish

between vehicles by choosing a

different trail colour for each of

them. First, edit the vehicle in

Administration > Vehicles.

Then, choose the colour you

want. You can create your own

colour or select one of the pre-

set colours. Once applied, you

will be able to see the trails of

each vehicle in a different

colour, in Fleet > Map, as long

as you activate the trails option

in Map options. The trails are

also displayed in the

corresponding colours, in

Vehicles > Map.

Tip of the month

Forwarding incoming

messages

Sometimes you may need to leave

your workspace and still be able to

know if a message comes from a

driver. In that case, you can

configure Frotcom to forward

incoming messages to you.

Go to Administration > My profile

> Interact and click Edit. Tick the

appropriate box.

Then, select the vehicles for which

you want message forwarding.

You can also specify when you

want message forwarding:

Finally, select the email addresses

and/or mobile phones you wish to

redirect the messages to. Have in

mind that in the case of SMS only

the first 120 characters of the

original message will be

forwarded. The rest of the 160

characters are used to describe

the origin of the message.

Don’t forget to Save before

leaving.

New vehicle icons

The possibility of choosing from a multitude

of vehicle icons is now possible. Go to

Administration > Vehicles and open the

details of the vehicle which icon you wish to

change. Then, click on the icon selector. You

can select from the more generic Frotcom

style icons to other more specialized icons.

Click on the little triangle to see the content

of each category. For example, here are

some options for Heavy equipment.

should remain a priority and have actively shown

their support towards the awareness raising campaign.

On the left side you can watch the promotional video of the campaign.

If you haven’t taken the pledge yet, just click on the picture and show that you care!

Next, on Roadmap

News and events,

more new Frotcom features

and tips will be presented.
