What is plain writing
in 8 slides only…
It’s about writing as though readers matter.
Anewidea?
Of course not.
But how often is your writing motivated by what YOU want, what your BOSS wants, what your program or organization THINKS it wants readers to have?
Plainwritingmeans YOUneed to take the time tounderstand whoyour audiencesare and what they need.
I want to learn… I want to do
something…
Please do not waste my time…
Your readers might besophisticated and educated.
They might live with literacy challenges (as do 42% of Canadianadults).
They may understand the jargon of your sector or field, or they may not be able to relate to jargon at all…
Plain writing gives YOU the chance to craft messages that willcommunicate what you want to say in a clear and concise way.
By the way…It’s NOT about being blunt or crude.
It’s NOT about dumbing anything down, for any reason, at any time.
Busy professionals and the organizations they work for can learn about and come to value plain writing. I am pleased to offer:
