The use of the marine environment for renewable energy, aquaculture, seabed mining etc. has increased extensively in the last years

This development calls for international standards on the design, installation, operation and maintenance of special offshore structures and support vessels


ISO TC 8 Resolution 263:

ISO/TC 8 agrees to an approved work item (AWI) as proposed by Mr Kent Molsted Jorgensen, DK, to establish ISO/TC8/WG3 for "special offshore structures and support vessels".

Scope: Special offshore structures and support vessels used to install, commission, operate, service and maintain such special offshore structures and vessels and other related systems.

The working group will initially focus on the offshore wind energy sector as the need is most urgent in this industry.
