1.1 About this Document

This Master Guide is the central starting point for the technical implementation of the SAP GTS application. Use the Master Guide to get an overview of SAP GTS, its software units, and its scenarios from a technical perspective. The Master Guide is a planning tool that helps you to design your SAP GTS system landscape. It refers you to the required detailed documentation, mainly:

● Installation and upgrade information

● SAP Notes

● Configuration documentation

● SAP Library documentation

To facilitate the implementation and upgrade process, all information within this document is structured by the product areas of SAP GTS. For more information about the product areas, see SAP Global Trade Services Overview in this guide.

For a general overview of the available SAP documentation, see The Main SAP Documentation Types in this Master Guide.

The Master Guide consists of the following main sections:

● SAP GTS Overview

This section provides a brief introduction to the SAP GTS application. It also includes information about the system landscape and the software component matrix. This matrix illustrates which business scenario requires what component, and whether the corresponding component is mandatory or optional.

This section also lists the overall installation sequence and the subsequent steps as well as the upgrade sequence that applies for SAP GTS.

● Business Scenarios in the product areas of SAP GTS

● The business scenarios presented in this guide serve as examples of how you can use SAP software in your company. The business scenarios are only intended as models and do not necessarily run the way they are described here in your customer-specific system landscape. Be sure to check your requirements and systems to determine whether these scenarios can be used productively at your site. Furthermore, we recommend that you test these scenarios thoroughly in your test systems to ensure that they are complete and free of errors before going live.

● This Master Guide primarily discusses the overall technical implementation of SAP GTS, rather than its subordinate components. This means that additional software dependencies might exist without being mentioned explicitly in this document. You can find more information on component-specific software dependencies in the corresponding installation information.

2 SAP Global Trade Services Overview

2.1 Introduction to SAP Global Trade Services

The business scenarios for import and export available in this application can utilize one or several of product areas. The sections of each product area list all of the information that is relevant for the technical implementation of the respective product area. SAP GTS 11.0 features the following product areas:

● Compliance Management

This product area ensures that you can comply with the complex international regulations in the following areas:

○ Sanctioned-party list screening

○ License management for import and export controls including reexport processes and ITAR regulations

○ Embargo checks

○ Hazardous goods checks

● Customs Management

This product area assists you in interacting with customs authorities. It focuses mainly on electronic shipping and customs procedures, and covers the following areas:

○ Customs communication services for imports, exports, and special customs procedures, including electronic communication and trade document services

○ Duty calculation

○ Product classification

● Trade Preference Processing

This product area helps you take advantage of preferential trade agreements and provides the prerequisites to your customers for your competitive advantage.

● Letter of Credit Processing

This product area helps you to meet your contractual obligations and mitigate financial risks.

● Restitution Handling

This product area supports you in applying for refunds for exports of common agricultural products (CAP).

● Electronic Compliance Reporting

This product area supports you in providing Intrastat declarations to the authorities.

You can use SAP GTS as an enterprise-wide, centralized application that enables your company to comply with worldwide trade regulations, communicate electronically with customs authorities, and manage information that is relevant to foreign trade. The application provides reporting features, with emphasis on audits, that enable you to handle changing import and export requirements and controls. SAP GTS is designed to be integrated with multiple SAP and non-SAP systems in a heterogeneous environment. It can be implemented without changing your existing logistics processes.

SAP® Global Trade Services 11.0SAP Global Trade Services Overview

2.2 Software Units of SAP Global Trade Services

2.2.1 Software Components

This section provides information about the most important software components of SAP GTS.

● SLL-LEG V1100

This component provides the technical prerequisites for complying with worldwide trade regulations, managing information that is relevant for compliant processes for business transactions and in foreign trade. This takes place, for example, when interacting with customs agencies, producing international shipping documentation, such as commercial invoices, entry summaries, and pre-clearance notifications, as well as mitigating financial and legal risks in the world of global trade.

● SLL-PI 900_600 (SP22+)

You can connect SAP GTS to SAP ERP systems with releases as early as SAP ERP 6.0 using standard interfaces. The plug-in SLL_PI 900_600 (SP22+) provides all the technical functions required for communicating with SAP GTS and integrating the processes.

To enable the system connection and integration into the logistics processes in SAP ERP, you need to install the plug-in SLL_PI that matches your SAP ERP release. For example, for SAP ERP 6.0 you need SLL_PI 900_600. This plug-in contains all functionality for the system connection with one or more SAP ERP systems as feeder systems. You can also connect SAP GTS to several SAP ERP systems with different releases without any technical problems.

NoteYou can also connect SAP GTS with feeder systems using standard communication interfaces. These include SAP ERP systems, other SAP systems, or non-SAP systems.

2.2.2 Technology Components

● SAP NetWeaver components

SAP NetWeaver 7.4 provides the technical foundation for SAP GTS 11.0.

○ The ABAP stack of this technical platform is, in a sense, the operating system of SAP GTS 11.0.

○ The JAVA Stack can be required for special functions in the individual product areas of SAP GTS or for running the delivered user roles in SAP NetWeaver Portal as stated in the Software Component Matrix as well as in the System Landscape information.

● UI technologies

SAP GTS supports different user interface technologies for using its features and running its business processes. All UI technologies support the standard roles delivered with SAP GTS or roles that you can administer yourself using transaction code PFCG.

However, the features for sanctioned-party list screening in Compliance Management are available in two environments: the SAP GUI-based features already available in previous releases and still available in this new release, and newly developed features that are solely based on Web user interfaces (Web UIs). Furthermore, the Web UI-based maintenance of long-term vendor declarations in Preference Processing, which lets your suppliers themselves enter their vendor declarations, is only available on the Web UI.

○ SAP GUI

The latest release of the SAP GUI software (such as SAP GUI 7.3) is compatible with all previous SAP component releases. As a result, older SAP systems can also benefit from the features that are only available in the newer SAP GUI releases. The Web UI-based features of sanctioned-party list screening and preference processing are not supported by SAP GUI.

○ SAP NetWeaver Business Client

As a new, desktop-based SAP integration platform SAP NetWeaver Business Client provides end users with seamless integration of classic SAP GUI-based transactions and new applications developed in Web Dynpro. It allows consumption of application content and tasks directly from back-end systems by using standard roles, which you can define using transaction code PFCG. You can therefore use this technology to run all features of SAP GTS.

For more information about SAP NetWeaver Business Client, see SAP Library for SAP NetWeaver at

help.sap.com/nw74 SAP NetWeaver 7.4 Application Help UI Technologies in SAP NetWeaver (choose language) SAP NetWeaver Business Client SAP NetWeaver Business Client Administration Guide Role Maintenance in PFCG

○ SAP NetWeaver Portal

You can access all features of SAP GTS in SAP NetWeaver Portal by generating content for SAP NetWeaver Portal from the standard roles that are delivered by SAP or adapted by you using transaction code PFCG.

For more information about generating content from standard roles, see SAP NetWeaver Technology

Consultant's Guide for your SAP NetWeaver Portal version at help.sap.com/nw702 Configuration and Deployment Information Technology Consultant's Guide Integrated User and Access Management Integrated User and Access Management Maintaining Portal Roles Upload of Roles from ABAP-Based Systems

NoteFor the features of SAP GTS that are provided with Web UI only, you must use either SAP NetWeaver Business Client or SAP NetWeaver Portal.

2.3 System Landscape

The figure below illustrates the technical landscape for SAP Global Trades Services as part of the 11.0 release of the SAP solutions for governance, risk and compliance (GRC).

SAP GTS runs on SAP NetWeaver technology.

This tried and tested, reliable platform provides scalability and the support of numerous language and country versions. At the same time, it provides a Web-based infrastructure that can be connected to any application with open internet standards.

For scenarios that can be integrated with logistics processes in feeder systems, the following landscape options are possible with SAP GTS:

● Installation of SAP GTS on a separate system

● Installation of SAP GTS on the same operating system/database system of another SAP solution, for example, SAP ERP. In this case, SAP GTS must run in a separate client.

3 SAP Global Trade Services Business Scenarios

The business scenarios of SAP GTS are contained in the product areas described below. The following information applies to all business scenarios in all product areas:

Technical System Landscape

The overall system landscape applies to all business scenarios. For more information, see System Landscape.

Software Units

For information about which software units each scenario requires and which software units are mandatory or optional for a scenario, see Software Component Matrix.

Implementation and Upgrade Sequence

For information about the implementation and upgrade sequence, see Overall Implementation Information. You can use the overall sequences as a template for the scenario-specific sequences, depending on the required software units.

RecommendationFor the upgrade using the business scenario Preference Processing, we recommend that you process the worklist of long-term vendor declarations for customers' purposes before you upgrade from SAP GTS 7.0 to GTS 11.0 If necessary, you can restructure the worklist using the initial transfer in the feeder system.

3.1 Compliance Management

Description

The product area Compliance Management enables companies to work in compliance with legal requirements and regulations. By streamlining the extended supply chain, Compliance Management automates the complicated regulatory compliance process, which is a crucial factor for successful global trade activities. To comply with legal requirements, Compliance Management checks and screens master data and transaction data from the logistics processes of the feeder system through integration between the feeder system and SAP GTS. This minimizes the risk of penalties and fines, maximizes your company’s return on global sourcing and selling initiatives, and increases your overall competitiveness by improving customer satisfaction.

NoteAll relevant features for performing sanctioned-party list screening are available on SAP GUI-based technology. These same features are also available with enhanced information design in Web UIs. You can choose which version of the information architecture and UI technology you want to use.

3.2 Customs Management

Description

The product area Customs Management enables companies to adhere to standardized processes. By streamlining import and export processes through automated IT-based customs processes by the customs authorities, companies can expedite their cross-border trade activities in a global market. The application supports automated customs processes, which can be country-specific - for instance, the automated export or import systems of authorities, or the European New Computerized Transit System (NCTS). By deploying SAP GTS for the automated systems, companies are able to produce international shipping documentation such as commercial invoices, entry summaries, and pre-clearance notifications. The overall result is an acceleration of cross-border trading and avoidance of shipment delays.

With the main focus on the implementation of electronic transit and customs procedures, Customs Management facilitates imports and exports as well as communication and printing. The documents for transit and customs procedures can be based on master data and transaction data from a feeder system through integration of logistics processes in the feeder system with the processes of Customs Management. The customs communication service enables you to connect to customs offices to submit customs declarations at the border or inland by communicating electronically and printing required forms.

Customs Management allows you to use regular customs procedures as well as inventory-managed customs procedures, for example customs warehousing, outward and inward processing. As for the customs warehouse and outward processing procedure, this also includes customs inventory management. Customs warehousing and its inventory management are based on the logistics integration with a feeder system. Customs duty calculation supports complicated calculations of duties and value added tax based on goods value and additional costs, for example transportation or insurance. Product classification assigns the appropriate classification numbers to imported and exported materials.

In addition to customs procedures, you can also monitor movements of excise goods and comply to the standards that the authorities set for electronic communication and securing the movements.

3.3 Preference Processing

Description

Preference Processing supports companies in indicating goods for preferential tariff treatment that can mean reduced or zero rates of customs duty. It assists in determining whether all the prerequisites for preferential customs duty rates have been fulfilled. This determination is based on transaction and master data from the logistics system that can be used in Preference Processing through process integration between SAP GTS and the feeder system.

Preference Processing includes the following requirements for preference processing:

● Defining preference agreements

● Managing preference rules

● Managing inbound and outbound long-term vendor declarations, including requesting and sending reminders to vendors about vendor declarations and maintaining the declarations in the system

● Preference determination for regular and configurable bill of materials, including extensive logs

● Providing statement on preferential eligibility for goods based on vendor declarations and bill of materials

24

CUSTOMER© Copyright 2015 SAP SE or an SAP affiliate company. All rights reserved.

SAP® Global Trade Services 11.0SAP Global Trade Services Business Scenarios

● Issuing vendor declarations for goods to Customs with preferential eligibility and revoking vendor declarations if the preferential status changed

● Printing preferential documents such as certificates of origin or goods movements certificates valid as preference certificate

Proving preferential eligibility of goods with Preference Processing enables the exporter to obtain a competitive advantage over other exporters. This reduces the overall price of goods for customers who import the goods.

RecommendationFor the upgrade using the business scenario Preference Processing, we recommend that you process the worklist of long-term vendor declaration for customers' purposes before you upgrade from SAP GTS release 7.0 or higher to release 11.0 If necessary, you can restructure the worklist using the initial transfer in the feeder system.

3.4 Letter of Credit Management

Description

Letter of Credit processing allows you more control over shipping dates and Receipt of documents for legal control purposes. It supports importers and exporters in mitigating financial risks by trading globally. You can incorporate this service in your export transactions to minimize risks and expedite transactions in international trade. It allows you to gain more control over shipping dates and Receipt of documents for legal control purposes.

The following features are available to minimize risk in import transactions:

● You can maintain letters of credit that you receive from banks in the letter of credit master data.

● You can enter all the relevant shipping and document dates in the letter of credit. You can do this by using the letter of credit attributes. Each attribute can be specified individually. Based on the attribute settings either the single or the multiple assignment of attributes is possible.

● You can assign letters of credit to export transaction documents due to the outbound logistics integration.

● The system recognizes that your import business partner is relevant to the Letter of Credit processing and you are required to assign a letter of credit to that business partner.

● You can create bank master data by transferring the data initially from your feeder system to SAP GTS and enhancing it in the business partner maintenance transaction.

● You can monitor the status of your letters of credit.

● One user reviews the letter of credit and a second user is required to activate the letter of credit.

● You can print documents in a manner that complies with the stipulations in a letter of credit.

3.5 Restitution Handling

Description

Restitution Handling enables exporters to map the restitution process simply and efficiently to the standard export process while mitigating financial and legal risks. The export processes can be based on logistics data from a feeder system through integrated processes.

Monitoring and controlling functions enable exporters to keep track of all their business transactions and cooperate with the customs authorities in a legally compliant manner. Restitution Handling allows exporters to

manage export licenses, securities, manufacturer’s recipes, and restitution calculations based on the normal export process.

3.6 Electronic Compliance Reporting

Description

Electronic Compliance Reporting application enables companies to create Intrastat declarations either manually or based on document data from the logistic systems. The product area of electronic compliance reporting ensures that the Intrastat declarations fulfill the requirements of the statistical authorities

Authorities in the European Union require statistical information on trade between member states for internal trade statistics, which companies can provide by using SAP GTS. With Electronic Compliance Reporting, Intrastat declarations can be edited and a file of the Intrastat declaration can be created in the required format.

NoteYou can use Electronic Compliance Reporting for integration to logistics processes in SAP ERP feeder systems but it also runs as a standalone scenario with no connection to the feeder system. For information, see the Software Component Matrix and System Landscape sections.

Configuration Documentation in SAP Solution Manager—SAP Solution Manager is a life-cycle platform. One of its main functions is the configuration of business and IT scenarios. It contains Customizing activities, transactions, and so on, as well as documentation.

In addition, SAP GTS offers the configuration information also in Configuration Guides. The configuration guide describes the settings you need to make to configure application components required for a business scenario. There are individual configuration guides for each product section of SAP GTS, including information about system connection, data replication, general and process-specific customizing. The configuration guide specifies the configuration activity sequence, and their dependencies. Configuration activities can be Customizing activities, SAP system transactions, organizational activities, and so on. The configuration guide identifies the areas in the Customizing where you find the (general) activity documentation, but it does not reference individual Customizing settings for the business scenario.
