foreigners. The predominant population in Singapore
is Chinese, so there is no wonder why there are lots
of food recipes there that were taken from the
Chinese. This country is a state city, which means
that Singapore is also its capital city.
This is one sought after
tourist destination today
in Asia for many
backpackers. Once set
foot in Singapore you will
think that it is similar to
Hong Kong. You will not
feel their difference
because of the recipes
that they share.
The official language in Singapore is Mandarin because of
the huge Chinese enclave, but English also being use there.
There is 14.1% of their population that speaks Malay. You
will not find it very difficult to communicate with people in
Singapore because of them can understand English. No

offer authentic Singaporean dishes and those that
were adopted from Indians, Chinese and Malays. You
will be surprised when you taste Popiah. This is a dish
that you must try upon setting foot in Singapore. It has
a circle Popiah skin that is as thin as a paper that rolls
up the other ingredients all together. It is dressed up
with hoisin sauce and the fillings include eggs, shrimps,
sausage, lettuce and beans.
Your thirst will be quenched when you try Singapore’s
sugar cane juice. The sugar cane will be extracted to
produce a juice and once you ordered it, the sugar
cane will run through a mill that grinds the juices of
the cane. Its green color will let you know that it’s
fresh and it’s not pre-juiced and stocked for days
already. A lot of stalls in Singapore sell sugar cane
juice and it’s up to you to check on them and ask for
some lemons to make the juice more aromatic &
tasty.
Being in Singapore is truly one of a kind feeling, but you shouldn’t
leave this place without even tasting some of their finest dishes
that you can also try at home for special occasions.
