Reorganisationand

Repositioning

Our aim is to reposition the Society in two key ways:

1) We want to become more widely appealing again2) We want to do more in Egypt

In order to achieve this most effectively we need to reorganise. So far this has meant:

• New role for the Director• Reorganisation of finances• Regularising of many aspects of the admin of our activities• A reorganisation of the staff - we have a fantastic team now

Reorganisationand

Repositioning

We want to be relevant, useful, appealing etc. amongst a series of key

audiences and more widely

1) Students / early-career Egyptologists• Cent Awards – more applications than for over a decade at least• CRE reception, and travel bursaries in 2014

2) Children• School visits

3) The general public• Cultivating relations with the media

4) Egyptians

• New member of staff in Cairo with revised job description

• Expanded portfolio of events• Field Schools• First grant to an all-Egyptian excavation

project• English language tuition – revived and

expanded• Improved relations with the British

Council and British Embassy• Fundraising Campaign – Arabic

Translations and Travel (to UK) Scholarships

Increase in income is required to over rising costs.

At the AGM in 2006 members expressed the view that they would prefer gradual but regular rises in subscription rates
