First Definition

“A process owner is someone who spends

their time thinking about work and

processes. My job is integrating dispersed

tasks together into one body of work and

then looking at the complete process and

making sure that it all works together.”

An Inevitable Tension: Process vs. Function

Process Owners don’t ‘own’ the performers who execute their processes

don’t possess the traditional levers of power

typically responsible for standardizing processes they don’t manage

Execution leaders don’t own the design, the metrics identification and, in many cases, the improvement of the processes they’re responsible for

can feel stuck in a passive role

often feel that process owners ‘don’t understand that we’re different’
