• If we are going to start a small business and we intend to use Content Marketing, we have to be very clear on who our target market is and the products that we intend to provide.

• To start a small business that usually has limited time and resources, the first thing you have to write is a Plan that boosts you to take action and help you develop your strategy.

• Before writing any content the first thing to do is to make sure that there is a market for products and services that you intend to sell. In fact, the number one reason that new businesses fail is because the products are not required by the market.

• To prevent this, we must make a proper market research that will serve to develop our Content Marketing Plan.

Steps to create a Content Marketing Plan

1. Know your audience

• Indentify the type of customers that you intend to sell to with psychographic and demographic variables (buyer persona).

• Defining your audience will help you create and establish your goals of content, which will be specific for the target market you have chosen.

• To discover interesting content for your customers you can ask friends and acquaintances who might be potential customers of your company.

• Visit the web, social networks, and blog from the competition and investigate the customer they are trying to as well as investigating industry meetings and events.

2. Define your objectives

• The objective must be defined taking into account the audience of your business. You can choose 2 goals to begin with for example:

• To generate interest in your products or services as well as providing customer service support.

• In these cases, we can create content that shows the advantages and benefits of your products over competitors as well as your abilities and skills for customer service in a way that you can win recognition among your potential customers.

• This way every business creates content based on what they do and their potential customers.

3. Determine the type of content you produce

• It is important in this step to define the level of knowledge that you have about the content on which you are going to write since your clients will begin to ask questions about any questions or concerns that they may have, and you must have the necessary knowledge and tools to answer them.

• After that you will have a clear idea of the kind of content that you are going to start creating.

• Tutorials, teaching people something new with easy-to-understand, step-by -step instructions (they are searching Google and YouTube for this information every day).

• Guides, should provide big value to your audience by teaching them a new skill or showing them how to be more successful in their business. A guide does not have to be a 40 page ebook.

• Interviews, people love to learn from industry leaders about their work process routines and their secrets to success. You can develop your own interview style and structure your interviews around a common theme.

• Infographics, creatively visualize facts and figures and are highly shareable online.

• Blogs, are the easiest way to gain experience and connect with your audience. As you grow, you can add podcasts or video if your audience wants to consume information that way.

• Videos, are ideal in the digital world due to the huge potential they have to develop an emotional connection with its consumers.

4. Schedule

When you are clear what content to offer, you may create a schedule in which you can input keywords, categories, and topics you may want to publish on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. Also, you may include publications for your blog, all detailed by date.
