I came across internet marketing
and decided to learn how to
establish an online business..
I took massive action.. a LOT of it..
Over a 100 videos and just as many blog
posts..
All I had to show for it, was
thousands of dollars of debt and a
few sales..
What happened next? Well I took a
step back to reflect.. I’m
embarrassed to say how long it’s
really been since I actually went
full out in my business..
If you really asked yourself- how
long has it been, what would your
answer be?
Here’s the thing.. I’m being dead
honest with you guys right now, and
this is something I almost never share
with anyone...
You can treat your business like a
job,
just show up and do the work…
Blog daily, market daily, and buy
solo ads etc
But in business- you don’t get
paid just to SHOW UP!!!!
One of my biggest pet peeves
in our industry
is that there is so much
emphasize
on what to do,
and not as much on
why it’s not working..
What I mean by that is,
there is an over abundance
on training, on what to do..
But not much of a support
system for people who follow
the training and can’t figure out
what they are doing wrong
Being congruent covers a lot of moving parts, and
you may just be one tweak away from having

becoming a perfectionist, and

don’t quit blogging, but don’t either

SAME WAY and expecting a
different result.
Congruency is about perfecting
the PROGRESS you are making..
Not about becoming a
perfectionistic procrastinator ..
In all this time I’ve spent
reflecting,
here is what I discovered
are the 3 key components to a
congruent online business..
1. What you say (unseen)
(your vision, beliefs about yourself and your business,
your truth, the value you are giving etc)
2. Who you are say it to
(your ideal customer, your prospects, clients,
who you want reading your blog, watching your videos
etc)
3. How you are seen (literally, seen)
( how your ideal customers interpret your message,
what they see, your graphics, copywriting,
storytelling)
Let’s dissect what you say
(your vision, beliefs about
yourself and your business, your
truth, the value you are giving
etc)
The difference between what you
say, and how you are seen is this.
What you say-
your vision
How you are seen-
how people interpret your vision.
Where this becomes an issue is, if you truly
want to help people, but you come off as
being spammy.
Here is an example of what you say, what
you want to be known for, not lining up with
how you are being seen.
Here is an exampIe of just “showing up” everyday in my
business,
this blog post goes against everything I stand for,
but I wanted to look good in my community by “blogging
daily”.
I’m NOT dissing blogging about trending news, but you’ve
got to
build a really strong bridge to your offer if you do that..
Which I didn’t, this blog post is just awful!
So what DO you want to say? What do you want to be
known for?
Homework Session 1
1. What are some things that interest you, that you
could become an expert in?
My answers- “ I love bulldogs, distressed furniture, talking
about different personalities, (I’m a type 4!), cooking,
and the list goes on..”
2. How do you want people to feel when you speak? In
blog or video..
My answers- “I want people to feel inspired, CLEAR, all the
bases covered, feel confident in what to do next. I want
to erase overwhelm and confusion. I want people to feel
like they have everything they need to become
successful NOW, that their stories need to be heard.”
HINT: as you are discovering your truth, I would suggest you
meditate, get comfortable being alone, write in a journal etc.
Instead of seeing other people you want to be “like”, think on
how you can be yourself, and how to be different.
Let’s dissect who you are
saying it to
(your ideal customer, your
prospects, clients, who you want
reading your blog, watching
your videos etc)
The reason those pictures I
showed you earlier were
spammy,
is because they
didn’t know who
they were speaking to.
It was offensive to me because
they didn’t take the time to get to
know me, their ideal customer.
Blogging about trending news,
or your passions is great.
But if you actually want to
make money doing it,
you need to get that passion
based cooking blog,
or the trending news posts
in FRONT of your ideal audience.
HINT: Look around on your Facebook newsfeed.
How many of the ads you see are relevant to you?
See how this marketer targeted me because
I liked the Ryan Deis page? I love this ad because this
marketer took the time to research Ryan Deis’s
market,
and figured out what solutions she could provide to
me.
Who are you really speaking to?
What pages do they like, what are their interests?
Homework Session 2
1. Fill in your empathy map.
2. Write a little blurb about your ideal
customer
Here’s one of mine for an example:Lia is 28 years old, newly married, no kids.She wakes up each morning determined to create a new future that is safe to have children in, and financially secure. But she works two jobs just to get by, and it leaves her no time to learn this "internet marketing thing" She can't quit her jobs because she has student loan debt, and also debt from her buying so many courses online. She gains weight from not having time to prepare healthy food, and sometimes from the stress of not having money. She feels SHAME from her husband and friends and wonders why she hasn't broken through already. She can't sleep at night because she's so frustrated. All she's been taught is to create a course online and sell it, but she feels she has no value to give, and that nobody would buy it. She longs for a tribe and a mentor that could just help her tweak what she's doing, she knows she's close, but she's so lonely and confused doing it by herself. She's scared to set up a blog, she's tried it before and it was so expensive and it broke. She's becoming more and more scared that she will have kids before she can have everything set up, so she searches online for a system that can help her do the things she doesn't like, and help her understand what traffic is, and just get a few sales coming in, so she can take her time learning the more technical stuff.. The next day she finds something that changes her life FOREVER!
