The Certified Financial Planner Certification is the designation awarded to those financial planners as well as other professionals who were able to complete the formal CFP course program and was able to pass the Certified Financial Planner Certification Examination. The CFP certification is a post graduate certificate that is being earned by those individuals who want to further their career, strengthen their career, apply for a higher or different job position, get a better salary compensation, broaden their knowledge, refine their skills and most of all keep up with the standards of the financial services industry.

Passing the Certified Financial Planner Certification Examination is the only way for you achieve your goal of becoming a Certified Financial Planner. This serves as an assessment test that will gauge your knowledge, understanding and skills about everything you have learned about financial services. Aside from that this exam will also gauge your skills on how you will apply your learning once you are faced with actual financial matters.

The Certified Financial Planner exam is administered by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and it covers almost a hundred if topics that covers the fields of financial planning and financial services. All CFP exams focus on over a hundred of financial planning topics. It covers all aspects of financial services which includes retirement planning, insurance planning, investment planning, estate planning and many more. This is a 10 hour exam that is given in 2 consecutive days. It will be a four-hour session on Friday and two 3-hour sessions on Saturday. The exam is consists of 285 multiple choice questions with one case study per session.

To qualify on taking the said certification exam it is important that you complete the CFP requirements. You must meet the educational qualifications wherein you have to earn a Bachelor’s degree or higher from any form of discipline as long as it is from an accredited college or university. Aside from that you must also complete the formal Certified Financial Planner course program wherein you have to take special course topics that are significant in the financial services industry. By having a good review and discussion in these special course topics can help you pass the exam.

Another CFP requirement that you have to complete is the three years full time working experience as a financial planner, assistant financial planner or any career related in the financial services. After completing both the educational qualifications and working experience you must then submit to a full background check so that the CFP Board will be able to see if you have any legal issues that needed to be settled. And lastly, you must adhere closely to the Code of Ethics set by the CFP Board
