Colonization: is when a group of people go to another land and take over.

The colonizers will often oppress, enslave or kill the people they encounter in the new land.

Historically, European countries are the biggest colonizers-they killed, enslaved and oppressed for more people than any other

group.

The Spanish colonized Latin America, the English colonized what is now the U.S., the French colonized what is now Canada, and

the Portuguess colonized what is now Brazil.

But European are not the only colonizating countries.

Indonesia colonized West Papua.

China colonized Tibet.

Russia tried to colonize Afghanistan.

As the world globalizes, it becomes more American and European.

Soon, traditional cultures will be gone forever from the earth.
