  • Least common form of the disease
  • Affects between 5% and 10% of all patients
  • Occurs from damage to the cerebellum
  • Generally affects coordination of movement in arms and legs
  • Causes poor muscle tone

Ataxic Cerebral Palsy 6.

  • Hypotonic Cerebral Palsy
  • Common Traits
    • Poor muscle tone
    • Bad posture
    • Often lay down
    • Poor head control
  • Is generally recognized early in childhood
  • Often described as having a floppy appearance

Hypotonic Cerebral Palsy 7.

  • Mixed Cerebral Palsy
  • 10% of children with CP have a combination of 2 or more types
  • Most common combination is Spastic and Athetoid
  • Causes muscle groups to become tight
  • Patients have limited movement
  • May be difficult to lift or hold objects
