ARender4Documentum is a universal viewing and annotation solution for Life Sciences.
The Business Needs
Document manager solutions in Life Sciences require the ability to view any kind of document, on any
type of device. Viewing must be fast, accurate and provide powerful browsing capabilities. The view
feature must be able to manage multiple renditions of a document, especially to allow content control
resulting in multiple PDF management for the same document (stamps and signed PDF in addition to
the PDF resulting from the direct transformation of the document native format).
In the process of document reviewing or validating (for instance for SOP or Regulatory documents),
the viewer must provide annotation features in order to provide a means to share comments on a
document. It must ensure that the document is not modified in any way during the annotation process.
GxP compliance is also an essential requirement that solutions have to support.
How ARender4Documentum fulfills these needs and what it brings beyond them
ARender4Documentum is providing quick and universal viewing features based on HTML5 technology.
It ensures the ability to view the document on any kind of device and any kind of browser available on
the market (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera). The compliance to XML Forms Data
Format Specification is used to provide annotation features based on a powerful and scalable market
standard.
ARender4Documentum is fully integrated
into Documentum D2 and can be added to
any D2 workspace as any others external
widgets to provide viewing and annotation
features: it can be integrated into a
workflow workspace or into a browsing one
.
ARender4Documentum is compliant with
Life Sciences requirements in terms of
document integrity and control and much
more in a GxP validation context. It does not
change the document during viewing or annotation processes. Documentum audit trails will not be
altered. Annotations are stored in a separated object linked to the document.
ARender4Documentum is compliant with Documentum Rights Management on documents and also
provides an additional functional level called profile. Based on its ARender4Documentum profile, an
“end-user” can or cannot be allowed to add an annotation to a document (even if he has the
appropriate Documentum right for that). It allows control of the annotation process in a finer way.

ARender4Documentum manages any rendition of a document based on a preferred format list. It
displays the latest most preferred format available on the document, allowing the use of stamps or
signed PDFs as soon as they are created.
