Tata Bolt Saftety Features and Reviews online in India
In an already crowded hatchback market, a new car launch would need to be quite
impressive to make a mark. Tata Motors decided to do just that when they introduced the
Bolt in 2014.
Based on the X11 platform and conceived under the Falcon programme, Tata had
unveiled both the Bolt and the Zest, its sedan cousin, simultaneously. The hatchback had
some faint resemblance to the earlier model, the Indica. But beyond what a fleeting
glimpse could see, the rest of the car was completely new.
Launched in both diesel and petrol versions, the Bolt comes in multiple variants. In the
diesel version, it sports the Revotron 1.2 litre diesel mill that is turbocharged and
displaces 89 BHP at 140 Nm of torque. The fuel efficiency figures stand at an impressive
23 km pl on highways and nearly 20 km pl in city conditions.
The Tata Bolt is a very smart and sporty looking vehicle that, upon closer inspection,
shows that it has been put together very well. None of the infamous substandard plastics
or yawning panel gaps can be seen here. Instead, the dashboard looks quite well equipped
with generous uses of chrome seen here and there. Particularly impressive is the futuristic
features that include a computerized information system that shares details on the fuel
consumption, how many kilometres can the car run, low fuel indicator, besides, of course,
a class leading music system. The fact that this is from Harmon Kardon, one of the
premier names in audio quality, is refreshing to potential buyers. The seats too are well
padded and come in comfortable upholstery.

Stepping out of the car, what meets the eye is the stylish, large but well designed
headlamps – also called projection headlamps – and a grille that has generous proportions
of chrome. Besides, there are some interesting first time features like a floating roof. This
visual look has been created by a black A-pillar that is mostly invisible, thereby giving
the illusion of a roof standing on its own. Similarly, there is more of a flowing and
aerodynamic feel to the exterior as compared to the outgoing Tata Indica.
The petrol Bolt comes with a 1.2 litre Revotron unit that has 8 valves and churns out 89
BHP. The mileage of 17 km pl and 14 km pl on the highway and in-city is not too bad
either.
Both models come with a strong chassis and, therefore, promise a good ride. The
handling, while not among the best in its class, is fairly confidence inspiring. For a fresh
look model of a bestseller car from one of the leading auto giants in the industry, the Bolt
surely has a good future, despite some stiff competition in the segment.
