Mahindra 2 Wheelers achieves 66% growth in Tamil Nadu in May 2011 Chennai, June 16, 2011: Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd, a part of the US $ 12.5 billion Mahindra Group, achieved 66% growth in Tamil Nadu in May 2011. “The growth experienced by Mahindra 2 Wheelers in Tamil Nadu is largely because there has been a good acceptance for our brands since the launch. The quality, reliability and durability of our products have played a major role in this. We have also done some innovative brand building and brand experiential activities over the last one year that has paid us dividends. Our network has also improved in the last one year. Our channel partners have played a major role in building a strong Mahindra 2 Wheeler brand in Tamil Nadu.” said Mr. Devendra Shinde, Vice President Marketing, Mahindra 2 Wheelers. Mahindra Rodeo, Duro and Flyte are today available at over 41 consumer touch points across the state. In addition to authorised dealerships there are 14 authorised service centres where consumers can get their scooters serviced. There are already over 17,000 happy consumers of Mahindra 2 Wheelers that are using these consumer touch points across the state. The company’s national sales for the month of May 2011 stood at 10,970 units, an increase of 36% over the last year. The cumulative sales for the company have crossed a landmark figure of two and a half lakh units, while the Rodeo has crossed a figure of 1,00,000 units. Mahindra 2 Wheelers’ Power Scooters cater to a range of consumer segments. The Mahindra Rodeo with its very innovative, contemporary features is popular amongst the Indian youth, while the Mahindra Duro is positioned as a family scooter. The Flyte is the Indian woman’s two-wheeler of choice.

growth in Tamil Nadu in May 2011.

In February 2011, Mahindra 2 Wheelers crossed the landmark cumulative figure of 200,000 units, thereby establishing itself

as a two wheeler marketer of significance. This feat has been achieved in 16 months from the launch of the Power Scooter

portfolio in September 2009. Mahindra 2 Wheelers achieved this milestone in one of the shortest time spans among two

wheeler manufacturers.

In addition to this, the Power Scooters have received several accolades. Mahindra Duro was declared Best Scooter of the

Year at the NDTV Car & Bike Awards in Jan 2010, while the Mahindra Rodeo won the Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally in its

very first year of participation. The Rodeo and the Duro also proved their mettle when they successfully crossed the highest

motorable road worldwide – the Khardung La Pass.
