Only one out of every twenty-six people with a problem or bad
experience will complain to the shop owner or employees. Of those who do complain, 91% will not come back because their complaint
was not handled properly.
Unhappy customers will tell, on average, ten other people.
Customers value service almost as much as the product itself. In fact,
customers will view your product much more highly if they receive good service.
It costs five times more to gain a new customer than to maintain an
established one. The key to keeping your customers is continuing
good service.
Seven Steps to Customer Care
1. Never promise more than you can deliver. Customer trust and loyalty
begins with honesty.
2. Exceed your customers’ expectations. Delight your customers by going
beyond the expected service (e.g.: clean the car, offer a free engine shampoo, offer a carpet shampoo, etc.).
3. Treat your customers with respect. Show them how important they are. A thank-you call, for example, shows that you appreciate their
business.
4. Know your customers , their needs, their likes and their dislikes. Get close to key customers and cater your service to
them. Know their full name and how to spell it.
5. Train every employee in the art of good service. A company’s service
image is mirrored by everyone a customer encounters, from the receptionist to the president. Make it clear what service means in your
company.
6. Answer your customers with a smile. Your voice shows your face; whether in person or on the phone, answer with a smile.
7. Keep in touch with your Customers. Make occasions to invite Customer for
a service tour. This will give you an opportunity to outline your services
and describe how you monitor the quality of your work.
