  • 1. Shots For DocumentaryBY ABBIE, ELLEN AND CHARLOTTE

2. Extreme Close UpsWith in the documentary there will be a range of different shots but it will have a fair amount of close ups of eyes and hands. Toshow detail with out having to show the whole of the actors face, this is used a lot in documentaries within our genre thus stayingwith boundaries set by this particular type of documentary. 3. Medium Shot3Then definition of an medium shot is ashot from the mid chest and upwardshowing the setting in the background. We are using a lot of these shots in theclip in interviews with the victims andthe reenactment of the crimes thattook place. These shots are good asthey show the facial expressions of thecharacter but also their body languagewhich is not always available whendoing a close up or long shot. 4. Close Up ShotThe definition of a close up is a type of shot which tightly frames a person or an object. This is relevant to our documentary as this shot can be used to show the persons face in detail and can show the small movementsof the face.4 5. High AngleThen definition of high angle high angleshot is usually when the camera angle islocated above the eye lineThis give the audience the impressionthat they are of a higher authority thanthe young child. This can be used inmany different ways for example thevictims in our documentary are shotfrom a higher angle. 6. Low Angle ShotThen definition of low angle shot is similar to a high angle shot for example a low angle shot is usually when the camera angle islocated below the eye line This give the audience the impression that they are of a lower authority than the actor on the screen. This can be used in many different ways for example the in the reenactment of the crime the criminal is shot from a lower angle.6 7. Long ShotsThis long shots help empathise a particular large item that is critical to thescene or the over all program. These are used commonly in expositorydocumentaries yet I will be using them within our documentary yet it will berare yet present. 8. Pan MovementThe clip to the right is an example ofpan. This is also footage we took andthat we are going to use within ourdocumentary. The reason pan shots are useful arebecause it allows the audience to seewhere the setting off the followingscene it is also an establishing shot. Itbenefits our documentary as a lot canbe shown in a clip that last only three tofour seconds. Also it is a smooth panthat can make the audience think theyare the stable centre in comparison towhat's happening on screen.
