Objective of Route Survey:

• The purpose of the Route Survey is to provide critical information regarding the existing roads & bridges condition, Terrain, other route constraints like Naxal affected areas and Availability of Basic Amenities enroute.

• To develop the methodology for other route surveys.

• SCOPE OF ROUTE SURVEY:

The Route survey analysis will be utilized for reduction in absolute Transit time and Transit time variability by developing route specific transportation strategies.

• INPUT:

There are high variability in transit time. We have taken several initiatives but we could not able to reduce the transit time variability because of our lack of information about routes and its constraints. This route survey will enhance our knowledge about route.

The route survey will help us in developing the complete knowledge of the routes and those information will be used for developing route specific strategies.

• TOO MANY MOVEMENT RESTRICTION PLACES BETWEEN JAMSHEDPUR TO LODHAM.

• MORE THAN 40% LENGTH OF THE ROAD ARE NAXAL AFFECTED WHERE THERE IS A LIFE THREAT TO DRIVERS WHILE TRAVELLING IN NIGHT.

• ACCIDENT, BREAKDOWN & JAM PRONE AREA AT BUNDU.

• VECHICLE DEPARTURE TO BE DONE STRICTLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH DEPARTURE SCHEDULE.

• ROUTE SURVEY TO BE DONE FOR ALTERNATE ROUTE TO FIND OUT WHY THAT ROUTE ARE NOT UNDER REGULAR USAGES.

Indian Road network

• The National Highways, totaling about 66,590 km approximately carry about 65 percent of the freight traffic and 80 percent passenger traffic.

• The entire Road network is capacity-constrained and structurally deficient due to lack of timely maintenance and rehabilitation. This has adversely affected the traffic movement, resulting into higher operating costs and delays.
