Masthead is usually different colours but is in white so it stands out from background.

Key image fills whole page, stands out. Plain, white clothing so you can see the cover lines over the top. The pose of a stuck out tongue and hands on hips gives a feel of rebellion and not giving any cares which goes well with the quote.

Similar music throughout, all alternative. A large range to attract more people.

Menu strip goes well with the magazine as it is the same font and colours.

Colours are mainly black and white so it isn’t too busy due to background however there is a lot of blue to make it different which matches Lana’s blue nail varnish.

The key cover line is large and very obvious, states who we see on the image and pull quote makes you want to read inside.

Having posters inside attracts more people, some may buy magazine just for a poster mentioned.

Cover lines are on white backgrounds so they can be seen and don’t merge into colourful background

Looks like a negative film which is seen as vintage, goes well with music genre.

White masthead stands out, distinct font for that specific company. Unique and large, looks like it has been scratched which symbolises their genre of music.

The key cover line is also white to match masthead with a similar font too. On a black background to make it stand out. Rhetorical question to draw the reader in.

The key image stands out as it is very bold with the pale skin contrasting to the dark hair and makeup. If you know and like the person you may be interested in buying the magazine.

The cover lines show there is a range of different music and bands inside the rock genre, to attract a larger audience.

Menu strip is in black with the white writing to make it stand out, offers more to interest readers.

The gig guide is the secondary lead, promotional and would make more people want to buy the magazine.

The fonts are all very similar, in capitals and a lot of exclamatives to create enthusiasm and excitement. Not too many colours, all simular(black and white, red/orange) so there isn’t a huge contrast. Goes well together.

Ripped page effect, symbolises the rock genre or a sense of rebellion, the black against white contrast stands out.

White on black so it’s easy to read, different colours such as yellow and red which go with colour scheme and keep it interesting.

Good amount of white space so it isn’t too much to read.

Pictures are of the band that are on the front cover as they are the main focus of this months magazine.

The white writing on a red background looks good so that it catches your eye.

Red background with white page numbers on to match title. The red background is messy to show the unique genre.

A block of text to introduce you to who the band is and what the magazine will be about.

Only features are mentioned, may be too much writing if all the regulars etc are written about. Small blocks of writing keep it minimalistic and simple, not too busy.

Each block of writing has a bold heading a clear page number to go to. All in black looks good against the pink background.

A pull quote to keep readers interested in what is going on in the magazine and to make them want to read the interview.

Image fills up whole space and agrees with the grid formation. A unique photo with a lot of white space to create the minimalistic look again.

Pink, girly colours complement the magazine’s specific genre and go well with Katy Perry being the main feature

The ‘contents’ title is large and bold in a familiar, well known font for the specific magazine. Looks quite girly and modern, symbolising the modern ‘pop’ and charts music inside.

Same colour scheme as on the front cover (blue and orange) and the same font.

Having the ‘accomplished’ in a different colour to the first word of the title and a different font creates contrast, stands out. Going across onto other word implies breaking the rules or being unique.

Having picture black and white makes the writing stand out and isn’t too much going on which may be off putting.

Side bar gives information about Lana with facts and figures.

Striking picture, matches the key image on front cover as it is with the same background, clothing etc.

Stand first is in italics which makes it look more interesting and draws you in. Orange drop caps fit with the colour scheme and keep the block of text from looking boring.

Title is really big and bold so that it stands out straight away.

Black background looks good as it blends in with the photo being very dark in the back.

All photos being black and white keeps the same tone and doesn’t look too busy.

Interesting photos with captions to explain.

Same colour scheme throughout, sense of continuity. Red stands out against black really well, links with the genre of rock.

The side bar is in the same colours and has a good amount of white space so it isn’t too much to read. Slightly diagonal so everything isn’t neat and straight.

The title is a pull quote which makes you want to read on as it’s interesting and because they are saying they are being the best it makes you think that the interview is going to be great too.

The images anchor the title/pull quote as they are all of the band performing and recording, which makes them look like they are working hard and enjoying themselves.
