Madanpur Rampur College, M.Rampur, a premier educational institution in the tribal dominated Eastern frontier in the district of Kalahandi and on the border of Bolangir & Kandhamala district of Orissa – , came into being in the year 1980. The college is situated on N.H. – 217 connecting Raipur and Gopalpur. The campus area spreads over 28.25 acres of land.

The college is affiliated to CHSE, Odisha & Sambalpur University and is recognized by DHE,Govt. Odisha imparting education to tribal backward people of Kalahandi, particularly to M.Rampur Block as well as to Karlamunda Block also in Arts, Science in +2 level & +3 level respectively.

The college offers 3-year degree courses in Arts & Science . The college takes care not only to impart and enhance the quality of higher education but also to build up an atmosphere of learning. It has proved its ability by giving students opportunities for their all round development. Again the college has made sustained and concerted effort to bring innovations in teaching learning methodology.

The students are provided with model notes and question banks etc. to enable them to grasp the course easily and help them prepare for the examination. Extra attention is also paid to academically backward and slow learners through extra and remedial classes and also to S.C S.T students sponsored financed by UGC under its schemes.

The faculty members maintain regular assessment of academic progress, which is verified by the HODs, and the Principal. The students’ performance is evaluated through classroom interactions, unit tests, and half yearly and annual examinations. The communicative skill and confidence level of the students are assessed through departmental seminars, debates and other cultural activities. Their knowledge is further sharpened through study tours, excavation and field works.

The college encourages students’ participation in extension activities through NSS, N.C.C. and YRC. The activities of these organizations include a number of awareness programmes, Rallies, Blood donation camps, Health camps, Legal Aid workshops etc. The unique outreached programme of the college is village adoption programme through which students use their knowledge, skill and abilities to benefit the village community in the neighborhood. Now the college introduced Eco Club for students awareness on Environment stress.

A student friendly-library in the campus provides access to Internet and also provides Reading Room facilities for staff and students. General facilities are available in the campus. The college has a nice eco-friendly campus. It is surrounded by rare variety of Mango grooves Sedum and Teak and other varieties of seasonal plants. Though the existing building provides classrooms for degree and higher secondary students, it is under further extension to accommodate growing demands in teaching and learning process. For better health care it has a play ground, Gymnasium which facilitates the students with both indoor and outdoor games. Yoga classes nourish the mental and physical growth of the students

CURRICULAR PROGRAMME:The institution provides teaching in various regular courses as English, Oriya, Hindi, History, Economics, Political Science, Education in humanities; Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics in Science stream . INTERNAL ASSESSMENT:Unit tests are regularly held to assess the performance of the students on regular basis. Apart from it Test Examinations are also held. Regular assessments of students/teachers performance are taken through meeting of Examination Committee EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT: Three University Examinations at +3 1st year, +3 2nd year and +3 3rd year are held every year to make the students eligible for the next stage.

ACADEMIC REPUTATION AND PROVISIONS:(Performance in University Examinations & other Academic activities)M.Rampur College has the distinction of being a nodal college under Sambalpur University.The College Conduct various University Examinations and the performance of the students of this institution has earned name and fame in the University.•In the recent University Examination,2010, one students of History Honours of this college have secured 2nd position in the University.•This institution has the pride of approximating 80% result in honors in the University Examinations but 40% in pass subject in the academic year 2010-11
