Music is...My Time Machine

The songs I write come from very personal experiences...they take me right back to the very moment they happened every time I pick up my guitar and sing them.

No matter what I’m feeling, I can escape to another place with my guitar and my voice.

I’ve never wanted anything more than to sing my songs and tell my stories to the world. Music is my everything.

Minnesota to Florida

I was born to a couple of band teachers, and I grew up in the middle of corn fields and dairy farms on the western border of Minnesota.

I couldn’t wait to escape the small town life, so I moved to Memphis for college with big dreams and a couple of guitars.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Recording Technology, I moved to Nashville where I fell in love.

Together we moved to Jacksonville to be near the beach and to start our lives together.

PerformingMy first performances were in church. My mom gave me my own microphone to sing into when I was only 5 years old.

I started writing music in elementary school and sang anywhere people would let me – usually at the local coffeehouse, Common Cup Coffee, or at town events like the County Fair and Prairie Pioneer Days. I loved (and still love) competing in any talent shows and songwriting competitions I could find.

In Memphis, I found a home at The Edge Coffeehouse, where I played my first all originals shows on a regular basis. I also performed at the Hard Rock Café on Beale Street and many other local venues.

In Nashville, I was lucky enough to perform at the Bluebird Café, Wildhorse Saloon, and Hard Rock Café Nashville.

Jacksonville has been very welcoming, and I’ve continued performing for local audiences as much as possible.

Why One Spark?I want to share my music with as many people as possible. I can’t wait for the opportunity to meet people during the event!

I have a very basic set-up for my home recording studio, and with One Spark funding, I would be able to purchase more equipment for which to record my albums.

I would also love to go on tour after I graduate with my MBA on May 1st of this year. One Spark funding would help make that possible.

Any amount of funding would help, but ideally $10,000 would complete my studio and send me on tour.

What is Success to me?I hope people can connect with thestories I tell in the songs I write.Success with my music is not justabout money – it’s about knowingthat someone will be comfortedknowing he or she isn’t the only onein the world who is going throughtough times in life. It’s about puttinga smile on someone’s face when theyhear my songs about love andfriendship. It’s about someone outthere experiencing what I love aboutmusic. It’s my time machine, myescape, my passion.
