2012 Predictions
• Maggie Brooks will not run for Congress.
The state legislature would have to make the 28th District, currently safe for Louise Slaughter, Republican-friendly.
2012 Predictions
• A new fast ferry will be announced.
It may not start in the spring, but by the end of the year, Harper Sibley will purchase a boat to make runs to Toronto.
2012 Predictions
• Nothing will happen on northwest corner of Main & Clinton.
Developers have shunned the area following the death of Renaissance Square.

• Someone will file a lawsuit against red light cameras.
Rochester’s aggressive rollout of cameras has plenty of ticketed drivers upset. Class action suits have been filed elsewhere in the country.

• Collegetown moves forward.
The University of Rochester has been planning the Mt. Hope Ave. development. Expect announcements about specific tenants and buildings.

• Democrats will block MCC’s move from Sibley.
City & developer will launch full-court press. Votes to bond MCC’s move to Kodak won’t be there in legislature.

• Bolgen Vargas will be named permanent superintendent.
He has already healed wounds and steadied the ship. If he can master the budget season, he’s in.

• Midtown remains challenging.
There’s a 50-50 chance the city will find additional tenants in 2012. If that doesn’t happen & the tower deal isn’t closed, we should be very worried.

• Kodak will file for bankruptcy.
Although the company is desperately trying to avoid it, the signs are there Chapter 11 is inevitable.
2012 Predictions
• Medley Centre will finally get going.
The developer has been seeking financing & tenants. Expect an announcement within first 6 months of year.
