In Europewww.travel.priyankawriting.com

In August 2015 I went on a solo cycling trip from Berlin to Copenhagen. 550 km in 17 days. I came across some lovely, quaint and too often very picturesque towns in Germany. Here I have listed 6 of them. You can plan for them on your next Europe trip

The German countryside is delightful. I didn’t

expect quite so many lakes, hay bales and

picturesque towns Take the time to explore all

around the small town you are staying in!

6 Small German Towns:

#1: OranienbergJust 35 km away from Berlin –this town welcomes you with a beautiful heritage garden called Oranienberg Schloss& a picturesque harbour.

You will also find the Sachenhausen Concentration Camp here reminding us of the constant need to ensure the best human qualities find expression wherever we are.

#2: HimmelpfortThis where the German Santa resides. You can visit his house and get a reply from him to your letters too.

In fact when the US Santa (from North Pole) comes down to Europe he often stays here with his German counterpart.

This is a lovely town surrounded by a number of lakes where you can swim, boat and generally chill.

#3: Furstenberg HavelOn the banks of River Havel and three huge lakes around it, Furstenberg Havel makes for some great views.

A charming town to enjoy good food, lake activities and just relax.

#4: WarrenOn the banks of Lake Muritz –the biggest lake completely within Germany, ‘Waa-hain’ can be a great place to relax and unwind for a few days. There are multiple ferries daily on the lake.

You can also explore the green side of Germany, as the Muritz Nature Park is right nearby.

Walk, hike, boat, swim and a lot more activities here. Should be a great place to take kids too.

#5: FriedrichshafenThe biggest lake in Germany is the Lake Constance or Bodensee, but it is shared between Switzerland and Austria. (Hence, the largest lake within Germany is the previously mentioned Muritz).

Lake Constance is breath-taking. Staying on the banks at Friedrichshafen lets you explore the nearby Switzerland and Austria too but at German accommodation rates.

There are many small towns on the banks of Bodensee, so you can explore all of those for a stay place you love.
