Introduction
The Everest region is understandably one of the world’s most popular and spectacular hiking destinations. Our Everest Base Camp Lodge
Trek trip begins with a spectacular flight from Kathmandu to the 9,000-foot airstrip at Lukla. We then follow the traditional expedition route
to the Sherpa capital of the Khumbu, the village of Namche Bazaar and onwards, alongside the raging Imja Khola River to the high valley
below Everest. En route to the world’s highest peak, we will visit many picturesque Sherpa villages. Tengboche, the home of Nepal’s most
famous monastery, is situated beneath the impressive backdrop of Everest and Ama Dablam. Our journey to Everest Base Camp takes us
close up beneath the spectacular “Khumbu Icefall” which leads up to the South Col and was the route taken on the first ascent of Everest.
We have also included the option of hiking to the top of the viewpoint peak of Kala Pattar (18,188 feet), which will afford our hard effort
with extraordinary views of Nuptse, Everest, Lhotse and Pumori. This easy-paced, fully-supported lodge trek in the Sagarmatha National
Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) allows us to enjoy an excellent introduction to trekking in Nepal and provide a unique insight into
the ‘Land of the Sherpa’ and home to the highest point on the planet - Mount Everest

Altitude A Himalayan trekking trip involves going to fairly high altitudes. This is not something that you should be overly concerned about. The human body is quite capable of
adapting to a very wide range of barometric pressures and there is plenty of oxygen even at the highest point of this trip. However, this process of adaptation or acclimatization does take time and the most important rule is to gain height slowly. It is now known that there is a correlation between daily fluid intake and successful acclimatization and we recommend that you drink between 3 and up to 6 liters per day during trekking at high altitudes. Our office is widely experienced in these matters and will be more than happy to provide you with solid advice to help minimize any temporary discomfort that you might experience. Please contact our office with any questions related to altitude. We are always ready to give advice on this subject. Travel Insurance It is a REQUIRED condition of
joining any of our trips that you
take out a personal travelers
insurance policy, which MUST
cover you for emergency
evacuation rescue, related medical
expenses and expenses related to
repatriation in the case of your
having an accident (we suggest at
least $50,000 of this coverage). We
have to put up monetary bonds
with our respective governments in
case of such emergency situations.
What this means is that if you are
injured, we can act immediately to
release this bond money, stabilize
your injury and have you flown
(most likely by helicopter) to the
nearest medical facility to be
properly treated.
