Hashtag: When placing a pound sign before a word on Twitter, it creates a clickable link that will index your tweet

Follow Friday: On Friday, it is customary to tweet the names of some of your followers or those you follow as a way to tell others about them. The hashtag #FF is used to denote this.

Retweet: A retweet is when a tweet from a user is used it another user’s Twitter stream. Place RT before the user handle.

Mention: When another Twitter user mentions your handle in another tweet

When connecting with someone you don’t know in real life, make the note personal. Explain why you would like to connect with them, describe any common connections and be polite. More often than not, they will connect with you.

Join groups specific to your interests and your target audience’s interest. Share your blog posts, but do not use groups to sell. Start conversations and act as if you were in a real life networking setting.

If you want people to participate in your discussions, you need to participate in theirs.
