MOONSHOT THINKINGInstead of a mere 10% gain, a moonshot aims for a 10x improvement over what currently exists. It address a huge problem, proposes a radical solution, and uses breakthrough technology to make it happen.

HOW TO APPLY MOONSHOT

THINKING TO YOUR BUSINESS

HUGE PROBLEM

Think of a huge problem you want to solve. It should be so big, it almost scares you. The bigger the better. So be open minded and don’t limit yourself.

Advice: by asking “WHY” five times you will get to the core of any problem.

RADICAL SOLUTION

The most common mistake people make is to aim for a mere 10% gain. Instead aim for a 10x improvement.

Ask open questions (“HOW can we”) instead of closed quseations (“can we”).Also, collaborate! It is more likely for a solution to emerge from unrelated disciplines.

BREAKTHROUGH TECHLOLOGY

To keep you up to date with the latest breakthroughs I recommend to read the MIT technology review and nature magazine (if you haven’t yet, sign up for their newsletter).

Then ask yourself howyou can use those breakthroughs to solve your chosen problem.
