Open your word processor and type some text.

Go to RefWorks and first choose a reference.

Click on the Cite icon of that reference

Once the cite icon has been clicked, the Citation Viewer will open, showing the temporary citation placeholder

Copy the text in the citation viewer. (Control + C)

In your document, place your cursor where you want the citation to appear and use the word processor’s paste function (e.g. CTRL+V) to insert the citation placeholder into your document

Repeat the previous steps with another citation, or multiple citations, placing them elsewhere in the text (make sure to Clear the Citation Viewer first!)

Save your document and then close it. In this instance the file has been named ‘Bibliography’

In RefWorks choose Create Bibliography

In the Create Bibliography screen, choose the output style and then click on Format paper and Bibliography

Browse for the file that you have just saved and then click on Create Bibliography

A box will appear once the bibliography has been processed. Click on the ‘click here’ prompt if you do not receive a download prompt (or if you’d like the file emailed to you click on the second prompt).

Open the document

You now have a second document, with formatted citations and a bibliography. Save the document asFinal - Bibliography
