A new concept in SharePoint 2010. Allows the centralisation and sharing of

Syndication Hub Create new Managed Metadata Service – (optional) Configure Managed Metadata Service and
Managed Metadata Service Connection Look for Central Administration > Application
Management > Manage Service Applications > Managed Metadata Service
Configure service application association (if using more than one Managed Metadata Services)

What is Good?
Allows centralisation of content types Reduce efforts to repeat the same content
types for multiple site collections Easy to manage/update Isolation can be managed by using
multiple Managed Metadata Services Workflows and IM policies can be defined
in content types Read only content types in subscriber sites

Troubleshooting Options
In order to check the publishing errors there are two ways
In the Content Type Hub Site in Site Actions> Site Settings> Content type service application error log (Site Collection Administration group)
In Subscribers site in Site Actions > Site Settings > Content Type Publishing (Site Collection Administration group)

Limitations
Custom fields and external data columns are not supported
To use document set in content types activate the document set feature in subscriber sites
Workflows associations ** Content type hub timer jobs need extra
care in deployments of content types
