OVERHEADSUse condenser micsfor overheads.

They pick up a widerfrequency range.

Have them further awayfrom the kit as they can’ttake high SPLs.

Use a stereo mic configuration to pick upthe stereo image.

PHASE

Phase is to do with the timeaudio is recorded.

When multiple audio signalsadd up correctly (as in ex. 4)we call it in phase.

If audio signals are 180 degreesout of phase (as in ex. 3) then thesounds cancel each other out.

As both mics are close together, the sound from the instrument arrives at the same time.
