We have a problem…

Listening to God’s voice

Responding to God’s voice

The early church in Acts?

Listening to God’s voice

Responding to God’s voice

The Christian life pattern

God speaks

We listen

We respond

Nagsasalita ang Diyos… (kanino?)

Mataas man o mababa ang social standing ng isang tao

Judio man o hindi Judio

Cristiano man o hindi pa Cristiano

Nagsasalita ang Diyos… (anong layunin?)

Bible

Holy Spirit

Visions, images, dreams

Angelic messengers

Human messengers

The Church

Life circumstances

Nagsasalita ang Diyos… (paano tayo tutugon?)

“No!”

“Yes, Lord!”

Responding in Obedience

Following God’s way, not opposing him

Without hesitation or objection

Even if it goes against tradition

Even if there will be opposition

Listening is about relationship with God…

God the Father

God the Son (Jesus)

God the Holy Spirit

John 10:3-4

The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

John 10:16

And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Listening Prayer Guidelines

Source: The Navigators (with modifications)

1. Still and quiet your soul.

2. Resist the Enemy.

3. Invoke God’s presence.

4. Ask God to search your heart.

5. Ask God to speak to you.

6. Wait in silence.

7. Write down the impressions He brings your way.

8. Test those impressions if they are consistent with His Word and character.

John 16:13-14

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
