These stones are only found in one place in the whole world.

In this one spot in the Dominican republic

This rare blue form of pectolite was found by a priest named Miguel Domingo Fuertes Loren in 1916

Miguel reported this but no mining action was taken. It took almost 50 years before it was rediscovered

The stone was named for one of the miners daughters (larissa) and the Spanish word for sea (mar)

It does look like the Sea doesn’t it?

IN FACT THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE THE WHOLE WORLD.

The stone is also translucent. When sunlight passes through the stone you can see a whole new aspect of beauty

The stone seems to be a living mineral. When soaked in water for 20-30 minutes the blue appears to be darker and deeper
