What Needs Does Society Fulfill?

• In the Book of Eli, Eli was faced with a society that really couldn’t offer him very much. Food was scarce and shelter was uncommon.

• When you compare society of today to that of the society in the Book of Eli, you realize how important the needs that society gives us are.

Fahrenheit 451

• In 451 society fulfills the needs of food and shelter. The people in the book were not living in poverty, but the society was falling apart due to the burning of books.

• In Bradbury’s story he portrayed how society can fall apart, but man can stay sane. Society provides us with the skills to survive when times get tough.

• In West Side Story the kids escape from Cuba and come to America where they will be free.

• The symbol of America to the Cubans was freedom and happiness. Society sometimes gives us these things, but also prevents them.
