From the Library Homepage click Research Databases. This will bring up all databases bySubject. Let’s take a look at the resources available for Social Sciences & History.

This brings up the Social Science and History research databases available through the CPCC library. Click on one of the other subjects on the left to explore other topics. Or click on the top left link to return to the library website.

The results can be narrowed down by Media Type. For example, if you are looking for videoresources.

The database I wanted to introduce is the last on the list. Also, please be aware of the noticeat the bottom of the page.

VAST has an amazing amount of video resources. I typed in “intercultural” and came up withsome videos relevant to intercultural communication!

On the left side of the page you can modify the search results by subject focus, country, or even by the year it was published.

I clicked the first search result. To the right you will notice that VAST offers help with citing resources. Not sure how you would cite a video? Let’s click on APA and see what happens.

And voila! Now let’s go back and click the video to check out some of the other features.

At the bottom you will find buttons to enable sharing and embedding the video. To the right you can find information about the video such as a summary.

Each video comes with a transcript and closed captioning.

Let’s say you read through the transcript and want to skip ahead in the video to a section you like? Highlight the portion of the transcript, click, and the video willskip ahead. I really like this feature!

• Remember that you will have to access VAST through the CPCC library.• This is just one of the very cool resources available! • Have fun exploring and let me know if you have any questions
