WELDINGMACHINE

INTRODUCTION

• ultrasonic welding is an industrial technique whereby high-frequency ultrasonic acoustic vibrations are locally applied to work pieces being held together under pressure to create a solid-state weld.

Principle of Ultrasonic Welding

• In ultrasonic welding, frictional heat produced by the ultrasonic waves and force is used for the joining process. Ultrasonic waves (15 to 60 khz) are transferred to the material under pressure with a sonometer. Welding times are lower than 3 s. The welding can proceed with or without the application of external heat.

•eliminate fraying •eliminate burns on fabrics •eliminate emissions of toxic fumes •eliminate the waiting time for the warm up of the machine •reduce production time •reduce energy consumption •eliminate the use of thread in the seam •coupling two fabrics and/or a fabric and a film •simultaneously punch and weld synthetic fabrics •eliminate the selvage •simultaneously cut and weld synthetic fabrics

THE REQUIREMENTS OF WELDING

• ULTRASONIC TECHNOLOGY CAN BE USED ON FABRICS MADE JUST OF 25% OF SYNTHETIC FIBERS , LIKE POLYESTER, VISCOSE OR RAYON.

• THERMOPLASTIC MATERIALS USED

Most synthetic fabrics suitable ultrasonic welding contain thermoplastic materials with similar melting temperatures and compatible molecular structures.

These materials have many of the following characteristics :•Wide melting range •High coefficient of friction •Even thickness •At least 25 % of thermoplastic content •Sufficient stiffness and thickness to accept the energy on the interface of the material ( minimum 0.0127 mm/ 0.0005 inches)
