Deep Water Horizon• The Deepwater Horizon oil spill is the “worst environmental

disaster the US has faced,” according to the White House energy adviser Carol Browner. Indeed, the spill was by far the largest in US history, almost 20 times greater than the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Deep Water released over 200 million gallons of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Eight US national parks were threatened and more than 400 species that live in the Gulf islands and marsh lands were at risk. The area of the oil spill includes 8,322 species, including more than 1,200 fish, 200 birds, 1400 mollusks, and 29 marine animals.

They can reach these speeds in less than 9 seconds.

These cars weigh as little as 900 lbs.

Seeing and Reading and Listening

• People can’t read and listen at the same time.• While you talk they’re reading. That means no

listening.• Which means they’re probably missing the

important information.• Unless of course the important information is

on the slide.• In which case, why are you still talking?

THERE ARE NO RULES

Task:

1. With a partner, choose a slide topic with bullet points.

2. Together, fix your chosen slide.

3. You can create as many or as few slides as you want to convey the same message(s).
