It occurs when people devote so much time and attention to an activity that it begins to pattern their thoughts, mental images, and dreams.

This effect is known to come into play when the person is in a supermarket or streets.

It is also felt by speedcubers and mathematicians and on a perceptual level, similar to sea legs.

The natural tendency of small objects floating in water to attract one another—and to head toward the edges of the container—is called the ____ Effect.

A ____, which is denser than milk, will remain atop the surface of the milk with the aid of surface tension, but the level of the milk immediately local to the ___ will dip slightly, causing nearby ____s to behave the same way—basically, the fall into the slight dip caused by the first ____.

The X effect is the development of emotional attachment with machines or robots or even software agents. It has been noticed that humans tend to attach emotionally to things which otherwise do not have any emotions.

X’s name comes from a portmanteau of the words, “egg” and “watch” of the local language of the place where X was invented.

“A lot of people have ugly things lying around because they made them themselves; they went to some pottery class when they were 23 and made a vase that is lopsided and hideous and no one would ever buy it. But people hold on to these possessions like they are worth a million dollars.”

This is an example of X effect where you tend to over estimate the value of something made from your own labour.

Shown here is an effect famously demonstrated by Professor Peter Thomson, Psychology Dept. Of University of York, England in 1980.

Who could he have possibly used to demonstrate this such that it has gone on to become its name?

X embeds digital information into real-world contexts while Y creates digital contexts that behave in ways that mimic real-world analogues.

In X, an additional information appliance also helps you access digital media objects related to at place, space, thing or event, so part of your overall experience is digital. While in Y, your whole sensoriumengages digital objects in a digital environment - it's all media. Typically, it's immersive, so you have a 1st-person view of it, and objects in this context are arrayed in all three spatial dimensions, so you move around in them

X is a pejorative term describing web content that is aimed at generating online advertising revenue, especially at the expense of quality or accuracy, relying on sensationalist headlines. For decades, researchers have assumed that A flows like B. After all, plasma, the liquid in which the A cells are suspended, consists to 92 percent of B. However, researchers from the UPennand Saarland University in Germany, discovered that plasma is more elastic and viscous than B, and, like ketchup, its flow properties depend on the pressure it is under. These traits mean that it has a much greater effect on how A flows than was previously thought.

The study may help improve researchers’ understanding of medical conditions such as aneurysms and arteriosclerosis. It may also lead to more accurate computer simulations of ___

This is a curious example of packaging followed universally. The two products are often used in succession and hence a design difference is seen.

While one curves to the right, other curves to the left. Alternatively, one is sold cap at the bottom while the other is sold cap at the top.

The logical explanation would be to prevent consumers from confusing them. However, a theory goes that, the company wants one to get over faster than other so you would buy the same company’s product for symmetry.

It's prudish poetry that has somehow endured throughout the years, but its origins—like its definition—aren't entirely clear. One possible origin is Samuel Coleridge Taylor, whose verses in "Work Without Hope“ where he says this-

All nature seems at work . . . The ___ are stirring--___ are on the wing . . . and I the while, the sole unbusy thing, not honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing.

Another explanation can be derived from this John Evelyn description of the interior of St. Peter's in Rome

That stupendous canopy of Corinthian brasse; it consists of 4 wreath'd columns--incircl'd with vines, on which hang little putti [cherubs], ___ and ___.

Many believe that he used the phrase as a poetic euphemism for describing what it currently means

WordStar is a word processor application that had a dominant market share during the early-to mid-1980s. It is no longer developed, maintained or sold by its owners

However, among the few who use this had this to say about Wordstar, (not the person in question) "I'm told there are better programs, but I'm also told there are better alphabets.”

The person in question gave the following explanation

“I don’t want a capital. If I’d wanted a capital, I would have typed a capital,” “I know how to work the shift key.”

He also hates spell check, according to the interview, which makes perfect sense.

“I don’t want any help,” he said.
