• Learning and sharing of knowledge through technology, using e-learning resources as part of continuing professional development.

There will continue to be an emphasis on the need to access diverse learning methods, including e-learning, with an acknowledgement that the ‘how’ of learning

is as important as the ‘what’.

The workforce will also benefit from learning and sharing of knowledge through technology. An ever-increasing

range of social care e-learning resources is making access to learning and continuing professional development

available to more people. These can bring a number of benefits such as increased accessibility, collaboration and

the ability of diverse learners to progress at their own

pace.

Learning and development Working together with our sector partners,

we will: • examine how technology can support

learning and development for the PA workforce and employers;

5.3.4 Creative solutions There is a need to be more imaginative, bolder and more creative in the approach to the delivery of learning and development, in particular in how technology can be used more effectively. E-learning works effectively in other industries. In social care it would be difficult to rely solely on e-learning, but it can form part of a package of ‘blended learning’.

The 4 Ages of E-learning

• (Or how communities mature in their use of new media to learn)

Understanding what community building is all about and how social media can support it are skills the social care workforce

will need. The role of social media, like other forms of group and one-to-one communication, is to create an environment. For

social care that environment needs to do two things: first, recognise people as having equal contributions to make to the community; and second, to bond people together to meet the

common interests of support and care
