Roman History

Cicero

His full name was Marcus Tullius Cicero.

• He was a Roman Philosopher, statesman, lawyer, and an Political theorist.

• Cicero was murdered in 43BC and was born in 106BC

• His names means Chickpea in latin, all his ancestors last names were Seans, and peas.

• Cicero married Telentia at the age of 27 in 79BC. He divorced his wife in 51Bc.

• In 46 BC, he married a young girl names Puslilia but he divorced her quickly.

• His favorite daughter, Tallia became ill in February 45 BC and died in January after having a son.

• Cicero hoped his son Marcus would be a philosopher like him but Marcus chose to be in the military.

Hadrian

• Hadrian was born on January 24th and died July 10th. He died at the age of 62

• Hadrian's father died in 86AD, his father died at the age of 10.

• Hadrian married Vibia Sabina in 100AD. He spent most of his time with the military.

• Hadrian became the ward of Trajan at the age of 10. Trajan die in 117AD, Hadrian then became the empeor.

• Once Hadrian became emperor and returned most of the eastern lands that Trajan had taken over

• He believed that the empire was to big for it's border to be guarded.

• He also believed that it was important to strengthen Rome and not take over too much.

• Hadrians wall was built in Northern Britain to keep invaders out. He traveled from Greece to Britain and Africa.

• He had great affection for Greek architecture and built great public building through the empire.

Hannibal and The Carthaginian Wars

• At the age of 9, Hannibal joined his father on the Carthaginian expidition to conquer spain.

• He was chief agent. The army chose Hannibal for commander in chief, Two years after,he subjugated all spain between the tojo an iberus.

• Romans declared war on 218 BC. After his fathers death,he  took commands of the army.

• "I swear that so soon as age will permit...I will use fire and steel to arrest the destiny of rome" He said.

• He had launched a mission in 218 BC which he had been sworn. Rome made plans to invade Carthaginian Hannibal started one of the history's most daring march.

• His 90,000 infantry, 12,000 cavalry and near 40 elephants traveled with him all autumn.

• When they reached the Alps, it was so cold that the soldiers died of exposure and fell to the death.

Julius Caesar and Augustus

• Augustus is also known as Gaius Octavius, He was born on September 23rd, 63 BC

• When Julius Caesar went to Spain to fight the Pompeians,Augustus went with him

• Julius Caesar died in 44 B.C. Julius adopted Augustus as a son.

• After Julius died, Augustus took over the dictatorship of Rome.

• Then octavius (Augustus) became the emperor and was given the name Augustus.

• Augustus was the first Roman emperor, When he did in 14 AD, at the age of 77, he was declared a roman god.

• Julius adopted Augustus because Augustus's uncle had been murdered and Augustus was an adult when Julius adopted him.

Romulus and Remus

• Romulus and Remus were twin brothers who were abandoned by their parents as babies and were put into baskets and we set in the Tiber river.

• They were discovered by a female wolf who nursed them until there were found by a shepherd.

• They found a city and they named it after Romulus; Rome.

• They found Rome in 753 B.C. They were a legend and they were gods of mars. Romulus did not die but dissappearead in a storm, But Remus got killed by his brother.

• There parents were Rhea and Mars. Rhea loved Romulus and Remus but she only abandoned them and set them off for protection.

• Before they became King, they took care of sheep.
