The mentorship project aims to work with at least 40 students ranging from grade three to grade twelve. This program will provide the support and guidance to each student to be successful in their school year.

To facilitate the integration of the Spanish Speaking students within the Canadian school system and provide them with the tools they will require accomplishing their goals.

The students will be able to take part in developing a Youth Radio show “Chatear al Aire” by Spanish Speaking students. The students “Potential” will be highlighted through the media channels. Students from both boards (TDSB and TCDSB) will be able to participate in this program.

In addition, we have the support and collaboration from SSEN (Spanish Speaking Education Network), Voces Latinas Radio, San Lorenzo Community Centre, the Ministry of Safety. G.E. &, Potentially G & P

In this radio talk show students will be inviting guest speakers to talk about any relating issues with schools, community and civic current events.

Students will have the opportunity to plan, develop and implement their time on air. This will take place at Voces Latinas Radio and it will be guided by Sophia Grande and Manuela Astudillo, program coordinators from Voces Latinas.

Mentors will be invited to attend the information session set for Friday February 5th, 2010 at George Harvey Collegiate Institute from 10:30 am to 12:00pm (sharp).

Mentors will meet individually with a student and their teacher.

Mentors will have the opportunity to meet with more then one student in the classroom.

Please note that some educator will be more flexible then others
