INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

By Carlos Araya

The following presentation has

educational purposes only. It intends to make people aware about the importance of Inclusive education nowadays.

What’s Inclusive education?

• Inclusive education is about embracing all, making a commitment to do whatever it takes to provide each student in our class a right to belong, not be excluded.

• We are all different, like flowers in a beautiful garden. Teaching to be knowledgeable about difference, supportive of others, and active in changing structures that are oppressive to various groups can all begin with inclusive classrooms.

School is a building that has four

walls---with tomorrow inside.

Inclusive education is based on the right of all learners to a quality education that meets

basic learning needs and enriches lives.

Inclusion happens when everyone feels welcome and

appreciated.

BENEFITS OF INCLUSION FOR STUDENTS WITH

DISABILITIES• Friendships• Increased social initiations, relationships

and networks.• Peer role models for academic, social and

behavior skills.• Greater access to general curriculum.• Greater opportunities for interactions.• Integration.• Increased collaboration.

BENEFITS OF INCLUSION FOR STUDENTS WITHOUT

DISABILITIES• Meaningful friendships.• Increased appreciation and

acceptance of individual differences• Increased understanding and

acceptance of diversity.• Respect for all people.• Prepared for adult life in an inclusive

society.

Special education placement for students with disabilities or special needs has failed to

demonstrate substantive advantages over regular classes .

Let’s Change our attitude! Let’s start being Inclusive.

• EVERYONE COUNTS
