Introduction

“BLUE BRAIN”- The name of the world’s first virtual brain.

Developing by IBM.

Within 30 years, we will be able to scan ourselves into the computers.

What is Blue Brain?

“BLUE BRAIN”- World’s first virtual brain.

It can take decision. It can think. It can response. It can keep things in memory.

A machine that can act as Human brain

A very good example of utilization of blue brain is

"short term memory”

For preventing volatile memory at the old age.

To keep the intelligence, knowledge and skill of any person forever

Why we need Blue Brain ?

How does it works?

Data Acquisition

Need to study different types of neurons and catalogue

Form, function and positioning of neurons Form, by mathematical algorithms.

biologically-realistic virtual neurons ready for simulation are generated.

Simulation

NATURAL BRAIN VS SIMULATED BRAIN

INPUT

Through natural neurons

INTERPRETATION

By different a states of neurons in the brain

INPUT

Through the silicon chip or artificial neurons

INTERPRETATION

By a set of bits in the set of register

OUTPUT

Through the silicon chip.

PROCESSING

Through arithmetic and logical calculation and artificial intelligence

MEMORY

Through Secondary memory

OUTPUT

Through the natural neurons.

PROCESSING

Through arithmetic and logical calculations

MEMORY

Through permanent states of neurons

Visualization Results Uploading is done by the use of small robots –nanobots.

Interface between the natural brain and the computer.

Scan the structure of our brain, providing a complete readout of the connection.

Visual interface makes it easy to quickly identify and show electrical activity in the brain

Memory with a very large storing capacity.

Processor with a very high processing power.

A very wide network.

A program to convert the electric impulses from the brain to input signal, which is to be received by the computer and vice versa.

Very powerful Nanobots.

Hardware and Software Requirement

Applications

Gathering and Testing 100 Years of Data.

Cracking the Neural Code.

A Novel Tool for Drug Discovery for Brain Disorders.

A Foundation tool for Whole Brain Simulations.

Advantages

It acts as a supercomputer.

Making decision without human intervention.

Uses intelligence of a person after the death.

Understand the activities of different animals.

Allowing the deaf to hear via direct nerve stimulation.

Disadvantages

A person can become computer addicted.

Others may use technical knowledge against us.

Another fear is found with respect to human cloning.

A very costly procedure of regaining the memory back.

Conclusions

We will be able to transfer ourselves into computers at some point and this is just beginning.

Technology does not create Brain but Brain creates Technology.

It will bring both benefits and harm to human society .
