Celebrate!
Central Idea – People recognise important events through
celebrations and traditions.

Lines of Inquiry – • What is a celebration.
• How and Why do people celebrate.• What art forms are associated with
celebrations.
We all discussed what we know about Christmas and linked it to
our own experiences.(knowledgeable)
• Each class decided on 2 celebrations which they wanted find out more about…….

• 1E Diwali and Easter
• 1D Easter and Chinese New Year
• 1J Easter and Weddings
We learnt how to ask smart questions!

We developed our research skills with the help of our year 6 buddies

We found out information by asking our teachers.

our own Wedding cake and designed bouquets.
We made Henna patterns
Easter baskets and collaged eggs.
We created eggs using printing and collage.
We created paintings and sculptures.
We created our own Easter egg designs with paint.
We looked at the similarities and differences between the
celebrations we were inquiring into.(reflective)
Mr Topper came to help with our questioning and Ms Salter taught
us how to reflect using our thinking hats.
We used ALL our knowledge to create our 100 day celebration!!!
• We decided on our menu, our decorations and what we wanted to do during the day.
